Dutch energy supplier Greenchoice is taking over all Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) of energy supplier De Vrije Energie Producent (DVEP). This ends the uncertainty resulting from DVEP’s announcement earlier this year to stop its (European) energy activities.
In April this year, DVEP informed its customers of the decision to cease its energy activities and seek a solution for its ongoing contracts and obligations. Regarding DVEP’s PPAs, that solution has been found: from 1 January 2024, Greenchoice will take over all PPA contracts.
With this, Greenchoice guarantees continuity and security of supply for the wind and solar power producers transferring to Greenchoice and further strengthens its own position in the wind and solar power generation market.
Greenchoice aims to make this transition as smooth as possible. The contract terms and fees remain the same. Producers with expiring PPAs will be approached by Greenchoice with a new offer in the coming period. The acquisition is separate from DVEP’s supply agreements with business customers of electricity and gas.
Acquisition fits into ‘climate positivity’ strategy
The takeover ensures that over 250 connections of renewable energy producers with a combined installed capacity of over 400 MW will supply electricity to Greenchoice.
The acquisition also helps Greenchoice further develop the transition to a 100% sustainable energy supply and offer an even broader product range for producers. The energy company, which recently said it closed 2022 with a solid financial result despite higher risks, says it is investing heavily in its services towards renewable energy producers. For instance, since March 2022, the company has a stake in Green Energy Storage B.V. (GES), which realises battery projects, and launched Everday the new solar asset management (optimisation of solar power systems) provider. Source: Greenchoice
