Fagioli’s offshore wind marshalling yard operations in Vlissingen in full swing

Fagioli’s marshalling yard activities for the 450 MW Calvados Offshore Wind Farm in France are in full swing at the BOW Terminal in Vlissingen in the Netherlands.

Four months ago, Fagioli, specialist in heavy transport and lifting equipment, was contracted by Saipem for the marshalling yard operations, heavy transport and lifting activities for the Calvados Offshore Wind Farm.

The project is executed by Fagioli between 2023 and 2024 at the BOW Terminal in Vlissingen where Fagioli is providing Saipem with a marshalling yard of more than 120,000 m² of quay and storage area, rented for the purpose. The company is in charge of the offloading and loading operations from and to client vessels of 64 foundations, including 64 monopiles weighing up to 1,000t and 64 Transition Pieces (TPs) weighing up to 600t. The operations include the heavy lifting, relocation, heavy transport and storage activities at the marshalling yard.

Since winning the contract, Fagioli has already executed several activities in preparation for the installation campaign. These include: engineering, design and study of several items, including but not limited to heavy haulage and lifting activities, steel transportation frames, storages solutions as TP supports and MP gravel dunes; civil works execution for the marshalling yard preparation, including levellings, backfillings, constructions of several sets of gravel dunes for monopiles storage and of more than 1,400 concrete blocks for Transition Pieces storage; client vessels portual operations management; stevedoring and sea-fastening welding/cutting/hydraulics torquing activities management; 64 monopiles and 64 TPs offloading, including cranes single/tandem-lift activities, items relocation, transport and storage.

The main equipment used by Fagioli include the followings: 2 Lattice Boom Crawler Cranes LR11350 (1,350ton) and CC6800 (1,250ton); more than 100 Fagioli SPMT axle lines for cranes super-lifts movements and items handling; Fagioli MP Transportation Saddles and TP Handler systems.
