Final PowerNEST module placed on rooftop of Municipality of The Hague building

Last Saturday, the fifth and final PowerNEST module by IBIS Power was hoisted onto the roof of the Municipality of The Hague’s building, the company announced on social media.

Once the final touches are made to the electrical system, the installation will be commissioned, the municipality of The Hague will be generating its own solar and wind energy.

IBIS Power said: “They are setting a powerful example by integrating innovative solutions for renewable energy, demonstrating how municipalities can lead in sustainability. This project not only underscores The Hague’s commitment to green energy, but also makes them a role model for other municipalities to follow.”

The PowerNEST concept consists of a raised platform of solar panels under which wind turbines and a lined up installation of funnels are placed. By using a raised and enlarged platform, the size of the entire roof area plus extra can be used. The PowerNEST solution can already be found on several buildings, including the Eden District building in Rotterdam and Haasje Over in Eindhoven.

PowerNEXT

Since the first modules, the company has further developed the concept, introducing four new innovations which takes PowerNEST to the next level: PowerNEXT. The four innovations are: a lightweight steel construction, PowerNEST light, better business case and a new generation of wind turbines from KLiUX. The new wind turbines are said to generate up to 4 times more wind energy. Additionally, these wind turbines are quieter than the previous ones and require minimal maintenance. Source: IBIS Power
