This weekend, Acta Marine’s new state-of-the-art DP2 Construction Service Operating Vessels (CSOVs) Acta Pegasus and Acta Hercules were launched at Tersan Shipyard in Türkiye.
The SX216 design of these walk-to-work vessels has been developed exclusively and in close collaboration with Ulstein Design & Solutions AS. They are designed to provide excellent support to offshore wind commissioning, maintenance and operations.
The 89 metres long vessels with TWIN-X stern are equipped with an SMST provided motion compensated crane and a motion compensated gangway for safe personnel transfer in significant wave-heights up to 3.0 meters. The CSOV provides hotel-style accommodation facilities for up to 135 people in 88 cabins.
Methanol-fuelled
The vessels represent a significant milestone in operational efficiency and reduction in carbon footprint. With an optimized hull form and ability to use (e-)Methanol (Methanol MDO/HVO engines) as main fuel, the vessel class is capable to deliver a dramatic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the start of her operations.
Acta Marine is now looking forward to the completion and delivery of the vessels. The company announced in an earlier press release that Acta Pegasus will sail under the French flag. Acta Marine established a French subsidiary in France with office in Montoir de Bretagne in 2023.
Last year, Acta Marine ordered two more CSOVs to be build by Tersan. These will be on a long-term charter with RWE to serve on the operational 857 MW Triton Knoll and the 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm. These vessels will start operation in 2025 and 2026. Source: Acta Marine
