Start site investigations for Zeevonk Offshore Wind Farm

Site investigations have officially started for the 2 GW Zeevonk offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, co-owner of the wind farm reported.

The activities are performed with partner Fugro. Using a fleet of advanced survey vessels and cutting-edge technology, over 7,600 kilometers of seabed will be surveyed. This 24/7 operation, which kicked off earlier this month, is set to run continuously until April 2025. The team will gather real-time data at 192 locations across the site, with water depths ranging from 6 to 50 meters.

Zeevonk is a joint venture in which Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Energy Transition Fund I, have joined forces for the purpose of developing, constructing and operating the IJmuiden Ver Beta offshore wind farm, located 62 km off the Dutch west coast. The partners were announced the winners of the tender in June this year.

This wind farm focuses on the smart integration of the wind farm into the energy system. The project will integrate and 50 MWp offshore floating solar farm an up to 1 GW electrolyser project in the Port of Rotterdam. The wind farm is expected to be ready in 2029. Source/Image: CIP
