Industry initiative Re-Quip Foundation works towards a sustainable future for Offshore Equipment

Last week, during the annual Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference in Amsterdam, the Re-Quip Foundation was introduced. This non-profit initiative, to be launched in 2025, aims to enhance sustainability and transparency while fostering collaboration in the offshore renewable energy industry.

Re-Quip Foundation is an initiative of Meemaken, Eager.one, ECHT, KenzFigee, Breman Machinery, IV Offshore & Energy, TWD and Van Oord. They are convinced that they – as equipment engineers, builders and end-users – have a unique opportunity to shape a more sustainable future by maximizing the lifecycle of (offshore) equipment.

Re-Quip’s mission is to engage industry partners in implementing sustainable and circular ways of design, use and re-use of equipment for the energy market. The foundation aims to do this by, among other things, providing transparency on used materials, sharing knowledge to make the industry a better place, embrace relevant joint industry initiatives to boost sustainable practices, and using the CO2 calculation tool to create awareness for “true prices”.

Online marketplace platform

In addition, the foundation aims to encourage re-use above single use to sell and buy stock and used equipment and components via a marketplace. This platform is primarily focused on Transportation & Installation (T&I) equipment for the offshore wind Industry.

Industry supporters

The initiators of the Re-Quip Foundation are seeking industry support to further their mission and begin development of the marketplace platform. Subject to the availability of sufficient funding, it is intended that the online marketplace platform will be launched in Q4-2025.

During the exhibition on Nov. 26 and 27, the foundation welcomed several new partners, including Van Halteren Technologies, Van Bodegraven Elektromotoren, AYOP, iTanks, AE-WaveHexapod, Mammoet, Holland Home of Wind Energy, and HYDAC. Windpowernl will also support the initiative through our media channels. Source: Iv is 1 of the initiators. Photo: Re-Quip Foundation
