Boskalis starts final phase at Yunlin offshore wind farm in Taiwan

Boskalis is starting the final phase at the Yunlin offshore wind farm in Taiwan with rock installation works at the remaining wind turbine generator locations.

The rock installation work is performed by Boskalis’ subsea rock installation vessel Seapiper. The activities are being performed at various depths, ranging from 12 meters to 32 meters below the water surface. Also one survey vessel is still active in the offshore wind farm to monitor the rock installation.

For the first time in months, Boskalis is operating with only one vessel at the Yunlin offshore wind farm. Earlier this year our subsea rock installation vessel Seahorse, the trailing suction hopper dredgers Beachway and Shoreway and the water injection dredging vessel Terra Plana also worked in the offshore wind farm, as well as two survey vessels that monitored the operations.

he Yunlin offshore wind project is developed by Yunneng Wind Power Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Skyborn Renewables GmbH. The 640 MW project is located in the Taiwan Strait, between 8 and 17 kilometers off the west coast of Taiwan, at water depths from 7 up to 35 meters and will feature 80 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines. Boskalis had been awarded the contract for the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm in December 2019. Boskalis’ vessels carried out a range of activities aimed at enabling the installation of the monopiles and cables in the offshore wind farm, as well as protecting the installed foundations and cables from scouring.
