Dutch TSO TenneT recently acquired a beach pavilion on Noord-Beveland in the Dutch province of Zeeland. The pavilion will be set up to serve as an information point for TenneT’s offshore grid systems (Net op Zee) projects from mid-2025.
Over the next few years, TenneT, responsible for connecting Dutch offshore wind farms to the national grid, will be working at Banjaardstrand and the Veerse Gatdam (also known as Veersedam), among other places, to lay the underground cable connections of offshore wind farms.
Net op zee IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1
The two projects in question are the offshore grid connections IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1. TenneT is installing two 2 GW cables that transport wind energy from the North Sea to shore: via the Veerse Gat dam and the Veerse Meer to the Sloehaven in Borssele.
Suitable location
The acquired beach pavilion, called View, is right next to the works and as such is a suitable location for an information point. from mid-2025, interested parties will be explained about the work and its importance for the province’s energy transition. There is also the idea of creating a viewing point. The pavilion will also house workplaces for project staff and for positioning equipment, which will help cable laying vessels stay in the right position.
When the projects are completed (expected in 2030), TenneT will offer the pavilion for sale again. This fulfils the wish of the Municipality of Noord-Beveland. Project developments can be followed via the TenneT BouwApp (Google Play Store and Apple Store). Source: TenneT
