The wind energy industry is one of the most rapidly growing renewable energy sectors worldwide. This is also the case in the Netherlands. In the Dutch Climate Agreement the Dutch government has set a goal to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 49% by 2030. In 2050 a zero net emission should be reached.
Wind energy, and offshore wind in particular, plays a vital role in achieving these targets. The Agreement provides for the expansion of wind energy of 7.5-8.5 GW of onshore and 11.5 GW of offshore wind by 2030.
